Ryssa Swanson
Ryssa Swanson is a 2024 graduate of Western Connecticut State University, Ryssa earned her bachelor’s degree in social work, laying a solid foundation for her work in social advocacy and community support. During her junior year, as an intern with the Afghanistan Iraq Veterans War Memorial team, she helped organize the inaugural Hero’s Gala. Ryssa continued her work with this team post-graduation. In June 2024, Ryssa joined the Veterans K9 Equine Alliance, advocating for the healing power of service animals. Growing up Ryssa saw first-hand the importance of service dogs in her community inspiring her love for the positive impact that these animals can have. Looking ahead, Ryssa plans to further her education by pursuing a master’s in social work in 2025, equipping herself with the knowledge and skills to make an even greater impact on her community.
